A missive arrives from Travelodge trilling the latest gimmick in the seemingly endless ways in which hotels are looking to differentiate themselves.
The chain is trialling ‘a-room-atherapy’ – (not us) – in its Edinburgh Haymarket Travelodge in a bid to lull guests to sleep with their favourite smells.
‘RemniScents’ (still not us) include: freshly cut grass; the sea; baby powder; home-baked apple pie and chocolate that are popped into a pillow-case before nap-time.
Frankly, anyone trying to nod off to the tang of freshly cut grass – let’s hope they’re not hayfever sufferers – would probably leap out of bed with the joys of spring. As for chocolate, wouldn’t that mean a trip straight to the mini-bar?
